Abstract Self Portrait Ideas

Main concept: I am going to use objects that I value greatly, but also act as a reflection of my personality. I'm planning on using objects that are very organized, symmetrical and contain intracate designs.

1.) I think I'm going to hang my Arsenal jersey on two lines of invisible thread and usethe studio with various lighting scenarios to shoot it.

2.)I'm may use my samurai sword to represent my last name. I'll probably shoot it on a stand and use macro to capture the sharpness of the blade.

3.) I may take photos of my hats because I am always wearing them! I believe that what you wear usually presents the person the person you are or want to be in a physical manner. I will probably use my camera to examine every seam and design on my hats. My polka dot hat would work very well.

4.) I believe that music is enjoyed by the vast majority of people and the style of music they like reflects in their personalities. I'm going to take pictures of my cd collection because in a digital age, I've always preferred having hard copies of my music. I'll also take photos of my stereo system because without it I couldn't listen to my cds! I may use the studio to shoot this.

B/W Project Reflection

I thought the theme was well thought out and gave us a lot of creative independence while also ensuring that each piece stayed relevant. However, there was also a sense of insignificance that many of the photographers felt towards the project. I personally didn't feel that my work was unimportant but it was easy to see that some photographers felt this way towards there piece. This feeling seemed to only be exasperated by how much control the dancers were given on what subject the photographer shot. This being the case, it wasn't percieved as a Dance and Photo show, only the former. Despite this, my dancer allowed me to conjure up different concepts and have control over the slideshow. I thought this gave me more responsibility with the outcome of our piece and in the end I was more than satisfied with the results. At the moment I can't access the photo but I do have it in my diary! It's the one that ended the piece with the seagull staring at the audience. I think it stands out because the seagull is glaring into the audience and it gives off a feeling that every individual shares responsibility for the oil crises (unless you're an activist and don't use oil). I thought it was a thought provoking way to end the slideshow. Yes, I did like the dance that was performed because the movement of the dancers were those of the ocean and birds! I also really enjoyed Jacquie's solo at the end because it happened just as the last slide came on which I thought was my most powerful image. In my opinion, the most successful piece that I was able to watch (I was only able to come the first night) had to be between Nikki Bellwood's piece and Bram Herndl.
